Why Monogram?

Why do I love to monogram? I pondered this thought and came up with a few of my reasons. Perhaps, these will intersect with your reasons and maybe you have your own unique ideas behind the magic of this letter art. 

I love the beauty of a monogram. It makes an item beautifully mine. It adds a special quality of individualism to a purse, pillow, scarf - anything.  A monogram makes kids clothing extra special by marking it as theirs. Monograms add beauty to home decor by adding a focal point to a beautiful room through throws and pillows and wall art. Growing up in the south I was trained to see that monograms add beauty to all things - we add them to clothes, decor, jewelry, baby accessories.

When our girls were little, I loved sewing and smocking them sweet little outfits to wear. Eventually, this lead to machine embroidery and monogramming. Now with one daughter in high school and one in college - they have me monogramming everything:) Tee-shirts, blankets, pillows, scarves, bags, journals...not much escapes my embroidery machine:) Their friends also have learned that I monogram, so lots of gifts come from my sewing room, too. 

So, why monogram? Monogram to enjoy the process and the smiles on the faces of those who receive your treasures (even the smile on your own face when you have time to monogram something just for you.)
